About the farm...
This is my dream come true. I've always loved old, historic places and horses. I feel so
blessed to have been able to have both. To wake up each morning to see and hear these
gorgeous animals in such a quiet and tranquil place.
I always planned to have a boarding business upon retirement, and during an 18 month
layoff from my job of 25 years, I decided there was no need to wait any longer! I've lived
here since March of 2000, and although horses had been kept here in the past, I wasn't
happy until every strand of barbed wire was ripped out and replaced with something
more horse friendly, and shelters were provided in every pasture. Then, of course, I
added the "woman's touch" to the barns and outbuildings, cleaning and painting.
My mission is simple....to share my piece of heaven on earth with fellow horse lovers, at
an affordable rate, with safety being my top priority. I cherish my boarders, and treat
everyone as I want to be treated myself. I want for my customers to feel welcome and
comfortable - to find their time here relaxing and an escape from the challenges life
presents to us all. Departures from my farm have been due to people moving, or buying
enough property to keep their horses at home. References will be furnished if requested.
I believe that my customers are my best advertisement. I am a voting member of the
Maryland Horse Council, the Maryland State Quarter Horse Association, and the
American Quarter Horse Association.
Boarding rates range from $200 to $350, depending on the type of boarding you choose.
There are options for pasture or stall board, single or herd turnout. I prefer to provide
horse grain, but can store customer provided grain, if necessary. Full care includes
stable provided grain, free feed hay in the cold months, turn out with ample grass in
warm months, mineral blocks, and fresh water.
I provide short term stall boarding for transit horses with proof of all required
immunizations, a negative Coggins test, and ownership records.
I currently do all the work here myself, however I am blessed to have friends with horses
who can step in for me if I have to be away. I have multiple trainers/riding instructors on
the farm who can help with any of your needs or aspirations. My farrier, vets, and dentist
are here frequently, with emergency assistance available. A worming program is in
effect, and schedules are maintained in my files, along with immunization and farrier
dates for your convenience. A negative Coggins test and Strangles vaccine are
required, as well as all other immunizations prior to your horse's arrival on the property.
Emergency medications and most first aid supplies are available on-site.
